When first meeting the Jennings family, you wouldn’t blink an eye, thinking these guys are just your classic lovely couple with two kids. But they are so much more than that. I am being brutally honest here, and trying not to gush, but these guys would have to be one of the strongest and admirable families I have known. Man, have they had it tough.
Just two weeks after Patrick turned two, he was diagnosed with lymphoblastic lymphoma. Then immediately he began an intensive 9 months of chemotherapy at the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne. It was a tough slog. Bridge stayed in Melbourne with Patrick, while Adam and Quinn stayed in the South East, and travelled across to visit Melbourne whenever possible. What a tough little dude Patrick is! Older sister Quinn was away from her mummy for long periods of time, which was heartbreaking for four year old Quinn and her family.
Patrick is now in the maintenance phase of his treatment which involves daily oral doses of chemotherapy. The treatment will continue until the end of 2018 and his oncology team are pleased with his progress. Whilst still being very closely monitored, they have encouraged the Jennings family to resume as many “normal” activities as possible, which they are enjoying very much.
I was so delighted to capture this family, you can just see the joy beaming from them!
Much love and well wishes to the Jennings family xx
